DD1 squealing sound (bad capacitor?) when powered but OFF

I have a strange problem with my DD1, where if it's plugged in and left OFF for a long time (say, overnight), when I get back to it I can hear a quite loud squealing sound that sounds a lot like capacitor whine. If I turn the wheel ON I can hear it chirp down to silence and it's fine. I can then turn off the wheel and the whine doesn't come back, but I can hear the fan on the power supply to be quite loud. Eventually it dissipates.
Anyone know what's going on here? Seems like quite a strange issue.

If you are having a high pitched whining sound, I would open a ticket with the support team. There were some issues with the early power supplies.
I had the same noise coming from the power supply. Got it replaced quickly.

I can hear a high pitched whining sound coming from my Clubsport 2.5 power supply unit. You reckon it's best to contact the support for this as well?
