1st setup, what to buy
Hi everyone,
Want to ask your advise about my first setup. want to try simrsacing on a mid-high level but don’t want buy a direct drive from fanatec or simcube because first i want to check if i like the feeling.
This is what I had in mint.
- Fanatec clubsport V2.5 wheelbase
- Fanatec clubsport F1 esports
- Fanatec csl elite pedals lc
Totaal 1030 euro’s
Or
- Fanatec csl elite F1 set
- extra loadcell
Total 840 euro’s
What would you guys do?
Is it worth it to have the upgrade to the V2.5?
(Based in Netherlands)
Thank you!

If I were you instead of getting the Fanatec csl elite pedals lc I would get the CS V3 pedals. Reason being although that one (CSL Elite lc) has the loadcell for brakes instead of potentiometer, it remains the accelerator and clutch still has potentiometers. The potentiometers in my experience are very flimsy, clog to frequently and require replacing. In comparison the V3 pedal set has no potentiometers, include load cell for brakes and hall sensors for accelerator and clutch. Long and short of it much much more responsive and most importantly much more durable. It's gotten excellent reviews thus far. Sure it is more expensive but may be well worth it in the short to long term and save you some grief.
@david Smith, thanks for the advice for the brakes, but would think the elite wheelbase if enough or would you go for the V2.5?
It depends on what you are going to use it on. The V2.5 is not compatible with consoles. In addition to that, the V2.5 only goes up to 900 degrees of rotation.
The F1 set is compatible with both PC and console. The only difference is if you want to play on XBox you have to get an XBox rim. The F1 set also goes up to 1080 degrees of rotation.
The V2.5 will give you a better "driving" experience but the Elite wheel base is no slouch. I started with that one before upgrading to the DD1 PS4 version. So just decide which gaming tool you want to use (console or PC) and purchase accordingly.

The CSW is Xbox compatible with an Xbox compatible steering wheel, too...
Oops. Sorry for that omission Maurice. 👍️
If you don't intend to play on PS4 buy CSW V2.5
Yes to some other comments in terms of what you're racing on. PC, Console: whether Xbox or Playstation. You omitted that crucial info thijs van der valk.
Very important regarding compatibility re wheels, wheel bases, pedals and whatever peripherals. It would be more informative if you state and for others to better advice. You wouldn't want to buy expensive stuff only to find out some are not compatible.
Hi guys,
i want to play on the PC.
a few people say that i better go for a base from sim-plicity or augury for the amount i am spending.
Now i am confused.. haha
what would you guys buy if you have a budget around 1000-1200 euro for the pedals, wheelbase and steeringwheel.
hope that you guys can help me figure this out!
You wont get a full setup with Wheel Base, Steering Wheel and Pedals from Augury. For your budget you would only get the Wheel Base without a steering wheel (they are VERY expensive for the Simucube 2) and also no pedals so for a complete set with a SC2 you are looking at at least 2000, if not even 2500 or more. So you can already forget about those options. With your budget Fanatec is pretty much the only option for you and I would go with the CSW package.
Would you buy the CS V3 pedals or the CSL Elite LC if it where you?
You will be happy with both. I personally don't like the red color parts in the CSP v3 and would therefore choose the Inverted ones or the CSL Elite LC :D
Hi Maurice,
Thanks so far but one thing i want to ask you one thing more.
You sad that Augury setup will cost more? is this true?
There are the H-kit and the V-kit that are less expensive, in my budget and direct drive.
The V-kit:

The 18nm DD with the f1/GT steering wheel from augury will cost me 919 euro's. If i buy the CSL Elite pedals for 230 than i have a set for 1149.
and even the 20nm DD with the the f1/GT steering wheel from augury will cost me 1049 euro's. If i buy the CSL Elite pedals for 230 than i have a set for 1279.
The H-kit

The 18nm DD with the f1/GT steering wheel from augury will cost me 869 euro's. If i buy the CSL Elite pedals for 230 than i have a set for 1100.
and even the 20nm DD with the the f1/GT steering wheel from augury will cost me 999 euro's. If i buy the CSL Elite pedals for 230 than i have a set for 1229.
Is this not a better setup and worth it?
