Have you updated to the latest firmware for the motor? Makes it feel much smoother when driving.
Hi Richard,
It is normal to feel the 'notches' between magnetic fields when the base is turned off. It is extremely unlikely for this characteristic to increase over time. When the base is turned on, it is actively reducing this characteristic through firmware. As Seth explained, its behaviour when turned on can change depending on the firmware. This would have zero effect on its characteristics when turned off.
I suggest that you try the latest firmware (wheel base and motor firmware) from this beta driver: https://forum.fanatec.com/discussion/24389/fanatec-driver-433-release-candidate-previously-432beta-for-csl-csw-and-podium-wb-all-wheels
