McLaren gt3 v2 + CSLDD died.
Wheel and base combo worked well since October.
I play exclusively on an Xbox one X.
I was making some tweaks to the seat on my rig after playing, then when I went to get back on, none of the buttons would respond. So, I rebooted the base and when it started back up, it would not go into Xbox mode and was really heavy and made a grinding noise.
I was able to restart it and unplug it and it will go into Xbox mode and sort of work, unless I try to use the settings button to change anything. Then it freezes.
Also when it "works" it has no center, and oscillates wildly - see video.
Unresponsive after settings button push:

I have opened a ticket but response times are...quite slow. When I used the live chat, they said they'd email me later instead of working with me through the chat.
Sorry for ranting, just feeling frustrated and blindsided after things worked perfect for a while.

So, contact Fanatec as it'll still be under warranty.
When live chat told you they would email you, did they say that they had approved you for an RMA? It's possible that from your description of the issues you're having, they may have determined that there's no point in trying to talk you through anything and the best course of action is to repair/ replace your gear.
It's the weekend, and normal response time is usually at least a day or two. I know it's frustrating when the expensive equipment you paid for suddenly stops working (I'm currently going through an RMA for my CSL DD and McLaren v2 wheel as we speak). But have a little patience and I'm pretty confident they'll sort things out.
They did email. The suggested things I had already read about and tried. So I'll continue waiting.
What has happened to yours?
Some sort of disconnection issue. Wheel (buttons, specifically) would become unresponsive, while showing the message to please update firmware. Tightening the C-clamp and other bolts worked initially, until a couple days later when it didn't. Live chat provided me with an RMA for both the base and the wheel so they can investigate.
Will work out I am sure, just the whole process will take awhile and test your patience. Take it easy.
Hey David, I sent you a PM with a few questions, if you wouldn't mind my asking. Just wanted to make sure you saw it. Thanks.
I finally got the email that they are going to RMA the wheel base. Crossing my fingers this goes quickly and it's not got anything to do with the wheel.
you know anyone with a fanatec base to just test the wheel?
I must say, I'm somewhat surprised that they RMA'd only the base. For my issue, they wanted both the base and the wheel (and the QR1 Lite, after I suggested they look at that too).
Hopefully things go well for you and they'll get you back up and running without too much down time.
Same, I even followed up to double check that they won't need the wheel, too. Hoping it goes well. Otherwise, I'll be one unhappy customer.
Just got the tracking email and response to my RMA:
This is to inform you that the repairs on your CSL DD have been finished.
Unfortunately a repair was not possible and our technicians have tested a new unit for you.
Glad it was sorted without having to send the wheel....I hope.
Wish the whole process didn't take a the better part of a month.
Well, got the wheelbase back and the problem isn't there. let's hope it lasts
