NEW F1 2021 PATCH (PS4/PS5) - CSL ELITE RACING WHEEL BUNDLE - PADDLE SHIFTER (DOWN) NOT RESPONDING

I'm new to the sim racing scene but I purchased the CSL Elite Racing Wheel Bundle to take the first step into sim racing. It started off ok but I started having issues with the down shift (on the steering wheel, paddle shifter) so I checked for new firmware and it wasn't up to date, so I updated it. Everything was working fine again until F1 2021 released a new patch/update (on PS5). The issue returned, up shifting seems to work fine but down shifting seems sticky, it can work once or twice but then it completely stops working.

Will I need to wait for the next Fanatec Firmware update for this issue to be resolved?

Can the updates between Fanatec and F1 (and other games) be better aligned?

It sounds like a possible hardware issue, and the timing of firmware and game updates were a coincidence.
