CSW 2.5 Won't change modes or load frimware

I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this, but is there a trick to resetting the CSW 2.5 base? Right now it powers on and spins up, but won't change modes (tried 3 different wheels) and when I go to update the firmware it locks up the application. Loaded an older driver (327) but I can't get to the wheel properties, it tells me something went wrong and to try to reconnect the base.

Is it dead or is there a way to manually install firmware outside of the driver I could try?

    From what I have heard and seen is to power off remove wheel or other attachments from the base. Power on and then try to update firmware. Hope this helps.
