CSL DD: On Crash in any iRacing / ACC, the wheel FFB goes full to one side and won't release
Using a CSL DD, If I hit a wall, or take any hard damage, the wheel will go FULL FFB and not release until I turn the wheel completely off. I've had this happen in the past, but it would release after resetting in pits / replacing the car. Doesn't stop even when sim is closed. Only powering the Wheel base down will stop the FFB from forcing the wheel one way.
Can anyone point me in a direct to fix this issue?
I'm using the latest Fanatec Firmware and I've tested this with two separate computers with the same rig.
PC DRIVER 451
Wheel Base: 1.1.8.5
Wheel Base Motor: 1.0.3.2
Steering Wheel: 46
Wireless QR: 6.0.0.1

are you play game in windowed mode ?
No, i am not. Full Screen. When I do hit someone or something, I look at the FFB indicator in iRacing and it doesn't show that's sending FFB data to the wheel, so I know it's not the sim.
it could be that it loose connection between game and after that it stays at his last input.
does steering wheel buttons self worked after this issue?
Yes, can reset the car, but the wheel is FULL FFB in my hands. Holding on with everything to keep it from spinning like a top.
it sounds like game bug relay but never knows.
by default it should release the ffb effect when you close game.
to you play games with steam ?
i could be that game continues send out FFB effect even when you go pit
Happens in both ACC and iRacing... The FFB display within iracing show no FFB input from the SIM.
You need to ground your rig.
Alternatively, you can try putting some ferrite clips on the USB cable connecting the wheelbase to the PC. It's faster and cheaper, but it doesn't always work.
Note that the clip wrapped in the cable like a coil, halves the operating frequency of the ferrite, it could make a big difference.
original cable already comes with ferrite filter
I've opened a ticket with Fanatec to see if there's an option they have I can explore. Was kinda hoping someone else had an experience like that and there was a quick fix for it
well had to say i not have seen this issue self yet, i to have also iracing and the acc,
i also was try if im able make same issue like you tell but without any success.
Yes me and other people on the forum had a very similar problem, and we fixed it. Some by grounding the rig, some using ferrites, some with a UPS, some with a PCI Express USB card and some by completely isolating the wheelbase from the Rig.
Is this definitely an EMI problem? I don't know, I have no way of knowing, but it looks just like EMI.
So, before launching yourself into complex and expensive solutions, invest 10€ in a bag of ferrite clips, put 3 or 4 on each side of the USB cable. If the problem persists exactly as before, please ship the wheelbase to Fanatec. If the problem seems fixed, it's EMI.
The problem will come back sooner or later if you use the ferrite alone, but you can use any of the other definitive solutions.
what happens when you play game in windowed mode ?
does this issue go away if you click with your mouse something else like desktop?
if it still are same then we are dealing there some hardware issue.
that ferrite theory is kind off easy test aswell, fanatec does have inbuilt protection,
remove the usb cable from pc and look if this issue goes away.
I second Alessandro's theory. Your situation sounds similar to what I experienced not long after I bought my CSL DD back when it was first released. A combination of adding ferrite cores and isolating my setup's components has done the trick for me, though I will admit it's not 100% solved. This still occurs maybe once out of every 100 times I sit down to play, but this is acceptable to me and is certainly better than it happening once every other time or worse like it used to.

when that happened for you, to you try add power supply to main voltage socket with opposite direction?
Sorry, I don't understand your question. If you read through the link I mentioned, you'll see that I tried a number of different things, until achieving good results, like I said, with the ferrite cores and rig isolation.
Dear friends, I just sold my CSL DD 8Nm base, and the new owner used to connect to a PC but in Xbox mode and now is saying the problems described above are happening to his base. Is there any connection? Did he break the base to use Xbox mode instead of PC mode when he was connected to a PC?
Because I was using it just before selling it to him and it was fine. No issues at all...
xbox mode not break the base because by default it should not even able drive with that mode at pc.
what could happen that he may need reinstall his drivers.
