Have to disconnect and reconnect a million times to go into Xbox mode

I have a dd 8nm v2.5 wheel cal pedals and Xbox series X. Every time I go to play I have to unplug and reconnect the wheel, turn it on and off, unplug and replug the usb so many times by the time it finally connects I don’t want to play anymore. It’s every time. Never any pattern to get it to work just doing it enough times it randomly eventually reads it. Is there some order of operations I’m messing up here or can we get a driver update? It’s ridiculous and makes me hate this awesome piece of equipment otherwise. Anyone else?! 😡
