GT Extreme Wheel Crashes DD1

I own both DD1, and DD+ Extreme, and I bought the Extreme bundle because I didn't have a true round wheel, and thought it would be nice to swap wheels between both console & PC rigs, however when I plug in the GT Extreme wheel into my DD1, the DD1 errors out and completely crashes forcing a reboot of the unit. But why? Can this be addressed in firmware updates?

    As explained in the webshop description: the GT DD Extreme wheel is currently ONLY supported by the CS DD.

    It is scheduled for investigation to add support for this wheel on other bases at some point in the future, but not anytime soon.
